Description
Pre-Columbian, Mexico to Guatemala, Maya and Toltec cultures, Classic to Post Classic period, ca. 600 to 1200 CE. A collection of 5 Maya chert (flint) points knapped into lanceolate shapes and stemmed projectiles. The stemmed heads may have been attached to wooden shafts, and the unstemmed pieces could be used as tools, scrapers, or other cutting blades - however the condition and size of the largest suggests these were votive pieces for burial or ritual, rather than use as hunting tools or weapons. Size of largest: 5" L x 2" W (12.7 cm x 5.1 cm)
