Description
Native American, United States, Eastern Woodland, Paleo to Archaic period, ca. 10,000 to 1000 BCE. A wonderful collection of 5 hand knapped stone blades and projectile points, each made from a creamy chert or quartzite stone. The largest piece is an impressive blade with a double notched neck and rounded base. The next is an ovoid, double pointed blade, with broad flaking patterns. The next two are both triangular Stanfield type blades. The last point is a corner notched projectile point for a spear or arrow, made from a creamy beige and gray chert. Size of largest: 10" L x 2.8" W (25.4 cm x 7.1 cm); smallest: 2" L x 1.75" W (5.1 cm x 4.4 cm); case: 12.25" L x 8.25" W (31.1 cm x 21 cm)

Provenance: private Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA collection; ex-Dr. David Harner collection, Springdale, Arkansas, USA, acquired between the 1950s and 1960s

Loss to largest blade tip and 3 large chips to peripheries. Mineral deposits on surface. Smallest blade has inventory number written on surface, and losses to blade tip and chips to fins and stem base. Earthen and mineral deposits on brown triangular blade. Old inventory number written on surface of ovoid pointed blade and minor nicks to white triangular blade. All displayed in Riker case.
