Old Babylonian Cylinder Seal, ca. 1800-1600 BCE, Carved seal of hematite, apprx 25.5 x 13.5mm. Three standing figures compose the scene. In the middle is a god in a horned tiara and long robe falling in creases, holding down one hand. facing him is a figure in a bare head and short kilt holding up one hand. Behind the central figure is a figure in a horned tiara and short kilt, holding up a pole surmounted with a single lion's head. There is also a crescent in the sky. Three fillers are present; a shepherd's crook, the spade of Marduk and a fly. This seal comes with a museum quality modern impression and is accompanied by a signed typed description by Professor W. G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology, University of Birmingham, UK, 1970 - 1993. From the collection of Juliane and Philip Lynch, Shaker Heights, Ohio.
