Late Akkadian Cylinder Seal, ca. 2200-2100 BCE, Carved green stone, apprx 23 x 14mm. The heraldic eagle is shown with head up, wings spread, tail down and talons gripping the rump of a horned animal on either side. A tree serves as a terminal. A Late Akkadian seal from Mesopotamia. This seal comes with a museum quality modern impression and is accompanied by a signed typed description by Professor W. G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology, University of Birmingham, UK, 1970 - 1993. From the collection of Juliane and Philip Lynch, Shaker Heights, Ohio.
Condition: Very deeply engraved in a course style, but in fine state of preservation.
