Title:1826 American Land Grant Signed By US President John Quincy Adams Clark County OH

Description: Framed 1826 Land Grant signed by then-President John Quincy Adams. We believe the grant is issued to a one William Inlow of Clark County, OH for more than 81 acres. Dated, Signed and Issued June 10th, 1826. Issued six years after the passing the historic Land Act of 1820 into law, which was designed to make public domain lands available for purchase, particularly in unsettled “frontier” regions such as Ohio, the Northwest Territory, and the Missouri Territory. The Land Act of 1820 facilitated Western expansion by allowing settlers to affordably acquire land. It contributed to the growth of the population in the West and influenced the formation of new states while also leading to the confiscation of Native American lands. According to the document, Inlow acquired the “west-half of the northwest quarter of section twenty-nine, of township five in range eight, between the Miami Rivers, in the District of Lands offered for sale, at Cincinnati, Ohio, containing eighty-one acres and ninety two hundredths of an acre.”Certificate number: 629; Volume illegible; Page 73There are two crease folds down the middle and two crease folds across, with small holes located on the upper part of the document near the nexus of the folds.
