Western Europe / United States, Neoclassical & Roman period, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE for ring, 1st to 3rd century CE for intagllio. A beautiful Roman carnelian stone intaglio set in a 76% gold (equivalent to 18K+) ring band. The Roman intaglio features a semi-nude soldier, striding in profile with a crested helmet and spear. The carnelian is set flush into the ovoid bezel setting with an open back and the wide shoulders gently taper to the center / base of the band shank. This ring is wearable and in excellent condition. A modern clay impression of the intaglio is included.Size of face: 0.61" L x 0.5" W (1.5 cm x 1.3 cm); band opening: 0.66" Diameter (1.7 cm); US ring size: 5; gold quality: 76.48% to 76.64% (equivalent to 18K+); weight: 7.7 grams
