Titled "Hezzakiah I See'd a Copperhead" depicts an older gentleman and woman with an axe and hoe chasing after a snake in front of their home. Ward's works often depict pioneer life and feature the characters Miranda and Hezzakaiah. Her primitive, and sometimes humorous, works have since given her the affectionate title of "Grandma Moses of the Ozarks."
