FRENCH FAIENCE TIN-GLAZED EARTHENWARE DOUBLE OPEN SALTS, LOT OF FIVE, each having polychrome hand-painted decorations, comprising a sitting clown with grimacing smile and a basket, a donkey with basket on back and Brittany shield of ermine tails on top of grassy base, a petite mouse example, and two sitting dog examples. Marks to underside include various artist initials and numerals. Donkey made by Geo Martel. Late 19th/first half 20th century. 4" HOA.
