A pair of French silver and vermeil double salts Maison Odiot, mid 19th century After the original model by Jean-Baptiste-Claude Odiot (French, 1763-1850), both with Mercury guarantee marks, one stamped 'ODIOT A PARIS' to underside and with rubbed Odiot mark for 1825-1894, sold together with four associated French vermeil spoons, marked with maker's mark "FL." (6).H: 4, W: 6 1/4, D: 3 3/4 in. Total weight: 26.8 oz. t. PROVENANCE: By repute, acquired in Paris by Richard Rush (American, 1780-1859) during his service as United States Ambassador to France from 1847-1849.Thence by descent.Private collection, Pennsylvania.
