Description
Native American, Southwestern United States, Arizona or New Mexico, Hopi, ca. mid-20th century CE. An attractive kachina doll hand-carved from cottonwood and painted in brilliant pigments to represent a type of flower kachina. Elaborately dressed, the figure wears a flat headdress flanked by 2 tableta ears painted with flowers and abstract imagery. The case mask features slit-form eyes and a tubular snout, all sitting above a long-sleeved tunic of red, yellow, and green, and a white skirt or kilt. Size: 4" W x 9.2" H (10.2 cm x 23.4 cm)

Cannot stand up independently. Losses to yarn and feather embellishments. Feet professionally repaired. Some light surface wear as shown, but otherwise excellent with nice preservation of pigments.
