Native American, Southwestern United States, Hopi or Zuni, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A marvelous cottonwood sculpture of the Kweo or the Wolf Kachina hand-painted in brilliant pigments and extensively adorned with plumage, horsehair, animal hide, seashells, glass beads, animal sinew, and fox fur. The dramatic figure dances on bent legs, holding a rattle in one hand and wearing an elaborate helmet mask with an elongated open snout. Size: 7.8" W x 13.9" H (19.8 cm x 35.3 cm)
