Description
Native American, Southwestern United States, New Mexico, Hopi, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A handmade bowl hand painted with a polychrome double headed bird motif. The underside has an old label that suggests "ca. 1915 / possibly by Anna." San Ildefonso Pueblo potter Maximiliana Montoya Martinez (1885-1955), who went by Anna, specialized in both black on black and polychrome pottery such as this piece. Other than this label, there is no signature or other mark by any artist. Size: 8.5" Diameter x 3" H (21.6 cm x 7.6 cm)
