Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, Chinesco Type C, Protoclassic Period, ca. 100 BCE to 250 CE. A hand-built pottery female figure rendered in the distinctive Chinesco Type C variant and decorated with white, black, and red pigment. Her heart-shaped head exhibits dark streaks to the side of each eye, white earrings, and a rich red face while her upper body is enveloped in white pigment. Size: 3.125" W x 7" H (7.9 cm x 17.8 cm); 9.5" H (24.1 cm) on included custom stand.

Condition
Repair to proper left earring and possible restoration to inner arch of proper left foot. Minor abrasions and roughness to pigment in some areas, with light earthen deposits, a few stable fissures, and chipping along verso, otherwise in very good condition. Great manganese deposits and nice preservation to pigment throughout.
