East Asia, China, Ming Dynasty, ca. 1368 to 1644 CE. A beautiful pair of ceramic bowls from the Ming Dynasty: a celadon-glazed bowl and a blue-on-white glazed bowl. Larger of the 2, the celadon bowl sits upon a tiered foot and boasts an underglaze central tondo of a floral motif resembling a rose. Alternatively, the blue-on-white displays a central sun design as well as scrolling abstract and vegetal patterns along the interior and exterior walls. Size of larger (celadon): 2.7" Diameter x 6.6" H (6.9 cm x 16.8 cm)
Provenance: private Arlington, Texas, USA collection, acquired mid to late-1960s

Condition
Blue-on-white has some areas of loss to glaze that likely happened during production. Both have a few small nicks, commensurate with age, but are otherwise in excellent condition with lovely craquelure to glaze.
