Description
Finely modelled as an elephant kneeled down with nose swept to one side, ornamented with saddle cloth elaborately carved in shallow relief with clouds above ocean crests, supporting on its back a detachable Amitabha buddha with hands together holding a vase in front of belly , the stone of a pale celadon tone with mottled black and russet inclusions, all supported on a silver wire inlaid hardwood stand. Ming Dynasty period.
