American Militia Cavalry Saber and Scabbard,
c. 1810-15.
Iron hilt, narrow counter-guard with down turned quillon, reverse 'P' knuckle bow connecting to a dove's head pommel with backstrap, spiral carved wood grip; curved single-edge blade with false edge and clipped tip, single narrow fuller, marked on the back 'M'; iron scabbard with two suspension rings.
Blade lg. 33, overall lg. 38 1/4 in.

Condition
Hilt toned to brown, wood grip has broken but present area at the top; blade is toned to mottled gray and has scattered shallow edge nicks; scabbard has brown toning and lightly pitted surface, and dent on the left side of the tip.
