European Light Cavalry Saber,
early 19th century.
Iron hilt with narrow counter-guard and down turned quillon, narrow knuckle bow with flattened diamond profile connecting to a flat pommel with diamond top and faceted backstrap, black leather covered grip with twisted copper wire wrapping; curved single-edge blade with false edge at the tip and single wide fuller, decorated with etched crescent moon, classical figure, and panoply of arms; iron scabbard with mounts for two suspension rings.

Condition
Hilt is toned to dark brown, leather grip has abrasions and wear, counter guard shows evidence of once having langets; blade is bright with scattered areas of oxidation and evidence of sharpening on the edge; scabbard is toned to dark brown and is missing upper suspension ring.
