44 7/8 in., .71 caliber round barrel, the left side of the breech marked with a trace of the 'US' stamp and '2 No 5557'; flat lock plate with pointed tail marked 'HARPERS/FERRY/1812' and below the pan with a spread wing eagle with a 'US' shield, the inside of the plate marked '2' and 'V/GM,' assembly numbers 'VI' marked on the bridle, sear, internal screws, lock plate, and side nails; walnut stock marked 'V/JS' for James Stubblefield, Superintendent of the Harpers Ferry Armory, and 'V/MH,' the side plate mortice marked with assembly number 'VI' and the right side of the butt marked 'WS' in dotted letters; iron furniture of proper form, the trigger guard with pointed finials, with sling swivels and steel rammer with button head and plain end.

Metal cleaned bright with minor pitting, lock functions properly, stock has dings and dents, a glued crack on the right side of the forend between the upper and middle bands, restored significant wood loss of the upper edge of the rear end of the lock mortice.
