Southeast Asia, Indonesia, ca. 19th to 20th century CE. A forged-steel kris with a straight profile and a projecting hand guard. The abstract phytomorphic handle is hand-carved from dugong ivory, and the 70% silver sheath is etched with dense foliate, floral, and linear motifs. Size (w/ sheath): 6.25" L x 2.125" W x 20" H (15.9 cm x 5.4 cm x 50.8 cm); (blade): 14.4" L x 2.8" W (36.6 cm x 7.1 cm); silver quality: 70%

Condition
Minor oxidation to blade, with light abrasions and softening to some finer details, and small chips to peripheries of wooden guard protector, otherwise intact and very good. Nice patina throughout.
