Southeast Asia, Indonesia, ca. mid-20th century CE. A personal ceremonial sword known as a kris. The wooden handle features 2 abstract maskettes along the interior curve and rest above a brass spacer disc. The forged-iron blade has a gentle serpentine profile, a bifurcated fuller that merges into a single fuller roughly halfway down the blade, and a pointed hand guard. The sheath is comprised of a single piece of wood with a broad guard protector as well as a slender blade housing covered by a brass sheath jacket that has a lengthy vertical slit down the obverse. Size (w/ sheath): 7.75" W x 19.4" H (19.7 cm x 49.3 cm); (blade): 14.625" L x 3.125" W (37.1 cm x 7.9 cm)
