Description
VIRGINIA DECORATED STAVE-AND-FRAMEÂ WOVEN-SPLINT MARKET BASKET, white oak and poplar, heavy unusual construction having the upper and lower frame of through-mortise construction with the side and bottom staves mortised through the frame members, the high-arched handle secured with nails and the weavers. Outstanding original dry, natural surface with the side staves retaining their original alternating blue-green and orange-brown painted surfaces. Circa 1900. 14 1/2" HOA, 7 1/2" H rim, 11 1/4" x 15 1/2".
