Description
RARE EASTERN MARYLAND DECORATED STAVE-TYPE WOVEN-SPLINT EGG BASKET, white oak, circular form with unusual rim consisting of a fully-wrapped pulled-rod above bentwood bands to the interior and exterior secured with spaced lashings, the flat-top, arched handle featuring carved rim supports to the exterior, resting on a domed bottom. Retains an outstanding original dry surface with alternating red and blue fully-dyed staves. Attributed to Worcester Co., MD. Circa 1900. 9 1/2" HOA, 5 3/4" H rim, 10" D.
