AGS CERTIFIED #10072. Double-sided Painted Wood Service Station Sign for Mohawk Gasoline featuring the iconic Mohawk Native American side profile graphic with an upright feather. The sign is a World War II-era advertising piece that was used for short time at various Mohawk Service Stations throughout the West. A product of Mohawk Oil and Refining Company, Bakersfield, California. CONDITION: Side one is overall fair showing excellent color with an impressive Native American graphic capturing attention with its excellent detail. Side one does display areas of splitting in the wood throughout, as well as surface scratching and minimal paint loss. Additionally, there are areas of lifting in the ply along the lower edge but overall displays very well, (Score 72). Side two also retains a large majority of its original reflective coloring, showcasing an excellent condition Native American graphic. Similar to side one it shows areas of splitting in the surface wood, as well as surface scratching and dirt staining. Side two also shows lifting of the top layer of ply along the lower edge but overall displays well, (Score 69). Although the piece shows some areas of wear it displays very well with an excellent original patina that is tough to replicate. Condition: (AGS CERTIFIED SCORE 72 & 69). Dimensions: 36" Dia.
