Description
Antique Art Nouveau small porcelain bowl, pink and white flowers, produced by C.A. Lehman & Son of Kahla, Thuringia, Germany, with the porcelain mark "Leuchtenburg, Germany." This mark was applied by Lehman 1890s-1910s. [Leuchtenburg is the name of a castle in Seitenroda, a few miles from Kahla, Thuringia]
The bowl is c.6.1/4" [15.9cm] across at the top; 1.3/4" [4.5cm] deep; a little wear, there is c.1/2" cross shaped hairline in the glaze on the bottom side, no chips, no other hairlines, no repairs, very good condition.
The company was founded as a porcelain decorating shop by Carl August Lehmann and Paul Zierold in 1885 and began making porcelain for export in 1895. The company merged with Franz Bauer Porcelain Manufactory in 1935 to form Bauer & Lehmann. The company went out of business in 1937.
