North Pacific, Hawaiian islands, ca. 19th century CE. A beautiful koa wood bowl of broad, circular form with a low foot and smoothly polished walls. The interior is carved out in a uniform fashion and textured from years of use, and the form-fitting lid resting above exhibits an expertly carved bullseye centered by a knob handle. Craquelure across the surfaces is indicative of its age and beauty, making this vessel a fine example of Hawaiian artistry! Size (w/ lid): 8.375" Diameter x 3.75" H (21.3 cm x 9.5 cm)
