Description
WITH WINGED GARGOYLES ATTRIBUTED TO R.J. HORNER. This beautiful early or late 19th century slant-lid carved desk features a lid with elaborate relief carved winged female figures on either side of a large vase of flowers. The lid opens to reveal an interior with multiple compartments, sliding drawers and a central cabinet with door. Beneath is a full-length dovetail drawer with heavy relief carved North Wind face and filigree. This is all supported by a two-winged fierce griffin and a full-length wooden shelf at base. SIZE: 37" l x 21" d x 39" h. CONDITION: has been refinished at one time and originally had a crest at the top. The peg holes for the top properly plugged before refinishing. Very nice overall.
