Description
Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico, Guerrero region, Mezcala culture, ca. 600 to 100 BCE. A hand-carved greenstone axe god figure with string-cut limbs and facial features. Remains of red accent pigment are visible along the lower body, suggesting how this figure was elaborately decorated at one time. Size: 1.4" L x 1.9" W x 4.375" H (3.6 cm x 4.8 cm x 11.1 cm)
Provenance: ex-collection of the late Peter Arnovick, San Francisco, California, USA, acquired before 1995

Condition
Minor abrasions, softening to some finer details, and fading to red pigment, otherwise intact and very good. Great surface smoothness throughout, and faint remains of red pigment along lower body.
