Description
Central Asia, Tibet, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A two-headed drum, known as a damaru (damru), made from wood covered in stretched reptile skin (possibly monitor lizard) and a thick strap sewn together from cotton fabric- the cloth is extremely worn with age and use- the once colorful cloth stained black. To play this drum, knotted cord beaters are tied to the handle, they would hit either skin face as the drum was shaken. Size of drum: 3.3" Diameter x 2.5" H (8.4 cm x 6.4 cm)

Condition
Fraying and tears to the cotton strap with discoloration and staining. Drum has wear commensurate with age and use, small perforations on the faces, but still emits sound.
