Description
Li Embroidered Tunic, China, Late 19th C. Wide, asymmetric tunic of handspun, hand woven tabby cotton or ramie cloth made from several pieced fabric sections sewn together to make wide rectangles. One side is short, with a square neck, and has a small gathered section below the breast. Cotton or ramie tabby cloth, wool yarns; embroidery, couching shoulder to shoulder by collar to hem. Provenance: Ex. Roger Hollander collection. Size: 1) 2'9'' x 1'9'' (84 x 53 cm).
