Coat-of-Arms of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Nineteenth Century. The heraldic shield in blue silk, painted in gold on one side with the figure of a Native American holding a bow and arrow, the arrow pointing towards the ground symbolizing peace, the five-pointed star next to his head identifying Massachusetts as a United States state; and on the other side depicting the Massachusetts naval ensign (naval and maritime flag) of the lone pine tree. H: 18.375 in., W: 13.625 in.
