c. 1876 to 1889, Headed: "FATHERS OF OUR COUNTRY" Ornate and Patriotic George Washington and Abraham Lincoln Decorative Copper Repousse Holder for Newspapers or Magazines featuring large central Portraits, Choice Extremely Fine.
Ornate vintage Copper Repousse Newspaper and/or Magazine Holder, measuring 20.5" wide x 16.5" tall x 5" deep (when extended open), featuring large central dual Portraits of Presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln in Embossed Copper panels. These include a back panel plus a smaller front panel that opens out to place magazines for reading. The front panel is attached to the back panel along the bottom edge and the sides are held open with a small link chain for newspapers. Each copper panel is wrapped around a sturdy paper card stock for support, with a plain back. Showing virtually no wear, this is a great piece of Victorian period historic United States Presidential imagery. This high-relief embossed magazine or newspaper holder would make a great addition to any political or presidential memorabilia collector's display.
