Description
Romano-Celtic, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 2nd century. A cast leaded-bronze prick-spur with a conical point and two curved lateral arms terminating in discoidal tips, and a third arm extending from the rear, likely to rest pointing upward along the rider's heel to ankle. A leather strap would secure the curved arms to rider's foot, and in Celtic culture, usually only one spur was used rather than a pair. Size: 3" L x 2.75" W x 5" H (7.6 cm x 7 cm x 12.7 cm)
