Description
A pair of hand-inked and signed World War II-era cartoons, the first by KARL KAE KNECHT (1883-1972), 15 in. x 15 in., dated Mar. 28, 1942, titled ‘July 29, 1914, 28 years ago World War I German Declares War on Russia’, showing a desperate man dubbed ‘Russia’ straining to hold a storeroom door shut while a Japanese general with dagger at hand calls out ‘Now Adolph [sic]?’. Together with an unidentified cartoon, 14 in. x 21 in., titled ‘Changing His Tune’, and depicting a scraggly Uncle Sam behind a plow, holding a broadside that reads: ‘Revised Army Song for 38 - 45 year old men in class 4H, You’re in the Army Now! You’re Not [scratched out] Behind the Plow’. Wear and soiling to edges, otherwise very good. Two pieces.
