Giovanni Battista Piranesi (Italian, 1720-1778) etching on paper, "Marble Candelabrum,1773-1778," posthumous restrike, from the suite "Vasi, candelabri, cippi, sarcofagi, tripodi, lucerne, ed ornamenti" (Vases, candelabra, grave stones, sarcophagi, tripods, lamps and ornaments), dedication above the image, the text below the images indicates that this is one of two marble candelabrum belonging to English painter Sir Thomas Jenkins, signed in plate lower right, marked "556" and "50" upper right, blind stamp lower left possibly from the "Regia Calcografia Edition," unframed. Provenance: Phyllis Lucas Gallery, NYC. [Image: 27" H x 16 3/4" W, sheet: 32 1/2" x 23 3/4" W]. Foxing, toning to edges and binding tape at left edge.
