Giovanni Battista Piranesi (Italian, 1720-1778) etching on paper, "Tripode antico di Bronzo, 1773-1778," posthumous restrike, from the suite "Vasi, candelabri, cippi, sarcofagi, tripodi, lucerne, ed ornamenti" (Vases, candelabra, grave stones, sarcophagi, tripods, lamps and ornaments), representing an ancient bronze tripod from the royal museum of the king of the two Sicilies, dedication below the image, signed "Cavalier Piranesi Inc." in the plate lower right and also signed in the plate lower left "Vincenzo Brenna disegno," marked upper right "550" and "44," blind stamp lower left possibly from the "Regia Calcografia Edition," unframed.
