A Rare Irish Flintlock BlunderbussBy Rigby, Dublin, Early 19th CenturyWith earlier two-stage barrel turned and belled at the muzzle, the breech engraved with a band of foliage at the rear, inscribed 'DUBLIN' (worn) along the top, and stamped with Irish registration number 'MA 1337' for Co. Mayo beyond, plain tang, signed border engraved flat lock with roller, foliate engraved ring-neck cock, figured full stock (minor old worming at the barrel tang), brass mounts comprising butt-plate and trigger-guard, the latter with pineapple-shaped finial, turned ramrod-pipes, and original horn-tipped ramrod with iron worm (tang and lock with some old pitting), private Birmingham proof marks, indistinct barrelsmith's mark 42.7 cm. barrel
