Description
Ca.late 19th century AD. An antique American Knights of Pythias ceremonial sword with a single-edged blade decorated with etched floral motifs, F.C.B. decorations, and the owner’s name "Joseph Cherest". Brass gilded hilt with a lion-shaped pommel, the handle is wrapped with ray skin and wound with twisted wire. Manufactured by M. C. Lilley and Co., Columbus, Ohio, etched on ricasso. Nickel-plated scabbard decorated with gilded Roman soldier figurine, military paraphernalia in relief, and various decorative elements. Stamped number "87" on the ricasso and "96" on the scabbard.
