Yoshihide Kobayashi, 1848-1904; MARSH FUKUSHIKI KIBOHO, Translation of C. C. Marsh's "The Science of Double Entry Bookkeeping," originally published in 1871 (Tokyo: Dept. of Education, 1876) Three vols., 10 1/8 x 7 1/8 in., in traditional Japanese fukurotoji bindings: dark blue paper covers with Western typed title labels.
Provenance: From the Estate of Lionel Katzoff (1936-2022) longtime Baltimore resident and collector of Japanese art. Mr. Katzoff's collection of hand-printed Japanese books was the subject of an exhibition, "Gathering Jewels," at the Walters Art Museum in 2004. Proceeds from the sale will go to the Walters.
