Description
South Arabia ca. 200 AD. Rectangular in form, sculpted at the end with the head of a man in the relief. His bearless spade-shaped face with arching brows, a long rectangular nose, and thin closed lips, the triangular shaped eyes may have been inlaid before. An inscription below identifying the name of the person. A well defined red band crosses the inscription. Size: 13 x 5 1/2". Provenance: Windsor Antiquities, 2009 acquired by Dr. Henry Cherrick, a professor and dean at UCLA School of dentistry who pioneered government programs promoting dental care in HIV/AIDs patients. He was an avid collector of fine art and antiquities and died at the age of 84 in 2023. Original documents included.
