Description
A lot of three vintage Russian lacquer trinket boxes with hinged lids. Each item is black with a hand-painted decoration on the lid, the inside is painted red. A small square box with a yellow flower. A small square box with a man catching a red bird, signed Palekh, Zhar-ptitsa, made by Fanin in Russian on the backside. A big box of a rounded shape with two birds above the nest, surrounded by flowers, signed Finches, LN in Russian on the bottom of the image. Palekh is one of the largest centers of Russian lacquer art. Zhar-ptitsa or Firebird is a magical creature from Slavic mythology, the captor of the bird is said to get his wishes fulfilled.
