Modernist ideas and progressive art thoughts became the fabric of Feldman's daily life. At Yale, both Albers and De Kooning were big influences in his work. Based upon his artistic production and exhibition history Feldman evidences early in his career that he is a tireless painter & printmaker…. ambitious to seize a wide spectrum of opportunities. The early 1950’s is a time of artistic evolution, experimentation and synthesis. He is showing dramatic changes from year to year, let alone with in a single year. The title – Could this be Space" is a Feldman jab at his art assignment at Yale to paint a cubist/surreal painting to push his ideological and artistic boundaries. Starting off as a firm realist painter at Yale when he returned to school post WWII, he witnessed radically new modern movements. Here is a successful attempt during this time.
