Description
"Quixote Fantasy-Scape". Embossed Metal and Pencil and paper. Dimensions: 22" x 30". Unframed with exhibition label on verso. Signed & dated lower right, in pencil. Walter Feldman (1925-2017) found the Don Quixote tale a source of literary pleasure and artistic inspiration. He produced a Don Quixote Series in 1974 and submitted this work to the Fifth National Print & Drawing Exhibition Minot State College, Minot North Dakota. As Quixote is a message about imagination that resists the limitations of current reality, Feldman challenged his own imagination with this series seeking new and complex imagery even after years as a professional artist. Feldman came to Brown University in 1953 after getting an MFA from Yale and teaching there for 2 years. He won a Fulbright scholarship in 1957. His works have been included in one person and group exhibitions at major museums such as the Museum of Modern Art and the Institute of Contemporary Art.
