Description
This spectacular pot was created by Michael Hawley. He was the only living contemporary potter creating the true Sityakti pottery as was created during the 14th-17th centuries. This pot was created using only hand ground clay and decorated using pigments from minerals and plants found on the Hopi mesas. He called his pieces Chakoptewa Polychrome, Chakoptewa being his adopted Hopi name. Good size measuring approx. 8" tall x 18" wide. NOTE: From the collection of Daniel Cutrone, professor at Cal State Dominguez Hills, specializing in preserving the four corners of Native American Indians.
Condition
Visually in good condition. Some spotting throughout appears to be part of the pattern. There is a small chip on the rim.
