Item Details
Description
**Originally Listed At $200**

Native American, Midwestern to Southern United States, Eastern Woodland / Mississippian culture, ca. 1000 to 1500 CE. A hand-knapped stone tool with two faces; one convex and the other almost flat. The peripheries are flaked and relatively sharp as well. The narrow tip is likely the cutting point, and the opposite edge would be the butt, which could be gripped by hand or hafted onto a pole or handle. Knapping tools required patience and skill to create the desired shape without shattering the stone. This skillfully knapped tool may have served a variety of purposes such as scraping, cutting, or digging. Size: 4.65" L x 1.65" W (11.8 cm x 4.2 cm)

Provenance: private southwestern Pennsylvania, USA collection, acquired prior to 2000
