Description
Western Europe, probably Italy, Classical Revival, ca. 19th century CE. A dramatic brass figurine depicting an ithyphallic dwarf attempting to throw an object, perhaps depicting a Greek 3rd-century example from one of the Phylax plays. This piece was following the Hellenistic tradition of bronze dwarf figures, which were later frequently displayed in Roman domestic settings. Size: 1.8" W x 3.2" H (4.6 cm x 8.1 cm)
