Rare printed circular conveying pardons to rebels who were defeated in the Zacatecas Rebellion of 1836. The rebellion was part of the ongoing struggle between Mexican centralists and federalists during the administration of Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna. The governor of Zacatecas, Francisco GarcÃÂa Salinas, led an army against the government. When he was defeated, the state of Zacatecas lost part of its territory, with which the state of Aguascalientes was formed, in retaliation for his participation. The six articles include protection of the officers of the rebel forces against capital punishment, and pardons the troops from all punishment, but, as outlined in article 6, foreigners are not absolved for their crimes. No copies are listed in OCLC.
