1784 State of Connecticut "Acts and Laws" Raising Taxes to Help Pay Off the United States Revolutionary War Debt
October 1784-Dated Revolutionary War Era, Imprint titled, "Acts and Laws Made and Passed by the General Court or Assembly of the State of Connecticut...", Including Raising Taxes for Payment of United States Debt from the Revolutionary War "per Act of Congress of the 18th of April, 1783", Printed by Timothy Green, New London, Choice Very Fine.
This 7-page Imprint measures 11.5" x 7-1/8" containing official published records of the "Acts and Laws" of Connecticut passed on the second Thursday of October 1784. Some expected light even tone to the laid period paper, yet no defects. This set of Acts covers a variety of topics important to the citizens of Connecticut in 1784. These include taxes, levies and duties to be collected on clothing and foodstuffs. Other taxes were to benefit the United States' efforts to reduce the Debt to be paid off from the American Revolutionary War, "per Act of Congress of the 18th of April, 1783". Other Acts concern navigation, etc. The front page has a nice engraving of the State Seal of Connecticut. Much more important historical content.
