Description
ALEXANDER STIRLING CALDER (American 1870-1945) A SCULPTURE, "Embracing Couple," 1900, bronze with parcel gilding on a black stone base, signed at back on left leg of female figure, "Calder," with Conner-Rosenkranz gallery label on the underside. Height: 17 1/4" Width: 8 1/2" Depth: 5 3/4" Provenance: Conner-Rosenkranz, New York. Estate of Donald James Douglass, San Antonio, Texas. Proceeds to benefit the Douglass Foundation.
Condition
There are some minor marks on the surface of the stone plinth but the bronze is in good condition. Simpson Galleries strongly encourages in-person inspection of items by the bidder.
