A Fine Singing Bird Box, Probably German, Early 20th century,
the composition case applied with cast gilt-brass mounts in the form of wreaths, ribbons, and floral bouquet, the operating slide to the front activating the brightly coloured feathered singing bird, with swivel movement and moving beak and wings, appearing from the lidded top, complete with original key and winding arbour side, in original velvet and silk-lined case,
the box 2in x 4 1/8in x 2 3/4in (5cm x 10 1/2cm x 7cm)

The movement in working order, and movement to bird automaton including the beak and wings. The bellows with good singing effect.

Noting a thin 1cm crack to the left hand side of the box.
Light surface scratches overall.
The original leather-bound outer case with silk lining, with wear and scratches to the leather consistent with time and use.
Otherwise in good overall condition.
