Date: 19th century
Description: Standing close to the shore of a body of water, the trees of a small riparian grove lean gently towards the water and cast their shadows on the bank. Between two trees and looking dreamily at the river or lake, a dog rests on the ground.Carl Johann Heinrich Krüger studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in Berlin under the important German landscape painter Carl Blechen (1798-1840), became his master pupil and, due to illness, substituted for his teacher's classes.

Condition
Rather good condition. Slightly soiled and rubbed in places. There is a grease spot in the centre right. The edges of the sheet are untrimmed. Along the left sheet edge three small punctiform damages.
